Ziyarat Ashura

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ (السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا خِيَرَةَ اللَّهِ وَ ابْنَ خِيَرَتِهِ) السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ ابْنَ سَيِّدِ الْوَصِيِّينَ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ابْنَ فَاطِمَةَ سَيِّدَةِ نِسَاءِ الْعَالَمِينَ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا ثَارَ اللَّهِ وَ ابْنَ ثَارِهِ وَ الْوِتْرَ الْمَوْتُورَ السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ وَ عَلَى الْأَرْوَاحِ الَّتِي حَلَّتْ بِفِنَائِكَ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنِّي جَمِيعاً سَلاَمُ اللَّهِ أَبَداً مَا بَقِيتُ وَ بَقِيَ اللَّيْلُ وَ النَّهَارُ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ

Peace be upon you, O Abu Abdillah. Peace be upon you, O son of the Messenger of God. Peace be upon you, O chosen one of God and son of His chosen one. Peace be upon you, O son of the Commander of the Faithful and son of the master of the legatees. Peace be upon you, O son of Fatima, the lady of the women of the worlds. Peace be upon you, O blood of God and son of His blood, and the lone one left unavenged. Peace be upon you and upon the souls that came to rest in your courtyard. Upon you all, from me, be the peace of God forever, as long as I remain and as long as night and day remain. O Abu Abdillah,

لَقَدْ عَظُمَتِ الرَّزِيَّةُ وَ جَلَّتْ وَ عَظُمَتِ الْمُصِيبَةُ بِكَ (بِكُمْ) عَلَيْنَا وَ عَلَى جَمِيعِ أَهْلِ الْإِسْلاَمِ وَ جَلَّتْ وَ عَظُمَتْ مُصِيبَتُكَ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ عَلَى جَمِيعِ أَهْلِ السَّمَاوَاتِ فَلَعَنَ اللَّهُ أُمَّةً أَسَّسَتْ أَسَاسَ الظُّلْمِ وَ الْجَوْرِ عَلَيْكُمْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ أُمَّةً دَفَعَتْكُمْ عَنْ مَقَامِكُمْ وَ أَزَالَتْكُمْ عَنْ مَرَاتِبِكُمُ الَّتِي رَتَّبَكُمُ اللَّهُ فِيهَا وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ أُمَّةً قَتَلَتْكُمْ

truly the calamity has grown great and grievous, and the affliction over you has grown great for us and for all the people of Islam; and your affliction has grown grievous and great in the heavens for all the people of the heavens. So may God curse the community that laid the foundation of oppression and injustice against you, the People of the House; and may God curse the community that drove you from your station and removed you from the ranks in which God had placed you; and may God curse the community that killed you,

وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الْمُمَهِّدِينَ لَهُمْ بِالتَّمْكِينِ مِنْ قِتَالِكُمْ بَرِئْتُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْهُمْ وَ (مِنْ) أَشْيَاعِهِمْ وَ أَتْبَاعِهِمْ وَ أَوْلِيَائِهِمْ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِنِّي سِلْمٌ لِمَنْ سَالَمَكُمْ وَ حَرْبٌ لِمَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ آلَ زِيَادٍ وَ آلَ مَرْوَانَ وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ بَنِي أُمَيَّةَ قَاطِبَةً وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ ابْنَ مَرْجَانَةَ وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ عُمَرَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ شِمْراً (شَمِراً) ،

and may God curse those who prepared the way for them by enabling them to fight you. Before God and before you, I disavow them and their partisans, their followers and their allies. O Abu Abdillah, I am at peace with whoever is at peace with you and at war with whoever is at war with you until the Day of Resurrection. May God curse Al Ziyad and Al Marwan; may God curse the Umayyads altogether; may God curse the son of Marjana; may God curse Umar ibn Sa'd; and may God curse Shimr,

وَ لَعَنَ اللَّهُ أُمَّةً أَسْرَجَتْ وَ أَلْجَمَتْ وَ تَنَقَّبَتْ لِقِتَالِكَ بِأَبِي أَنْتَ وَ أُمِّي لَقَدْ عَظُمَ مُصَابِي بِكَ فَأَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي أَكْرَمَ مَقَامَكَ وَ أَكْرَمَنِي (بِكَ) أَنْ يَرْزُقَنِي طَلَبَ ثَارِكَ مَعَ إِمَامٍ مَنْصُورٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتِ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي عِنْدَكَ وَجِيهاً بِالْحُسَيْنِ عليه السلام فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ إِلَى رَسُولِهِ وَ إِلَى أَمِيرِ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَ إِلَى فَاطِمَةَ وَ إِلَى الْحَسَنِ وَ إِلَيْكَ بِمُوَالاَتِكَ وَ بِالْبَرَاءَةِ

and may God curse the community that saddled, bridled and veiled themselves to fight you. May my father and mother be your ransom! Truly my grief over you has grown great, so I ask God, who honoured your station and honoured me, to grant me the seeking of vengeance for your blood alongside a victorious Imam from the household of Muhammad, God bless him and his family. O God, make me honoured in Your sight through al-Husayn, peace be upon him, in this world and the Hereafter. O Abu Abdillah, I draw near to God, to His Messenger, to the Commander of the Faithful, to Fatima, to al-Hasan and to you through loyalty to you and through disavowal

مِمَّنْ أَسَّسَ أَسَاسَ ذَلِكَ وَ بَنَى عَلَيْهِ بُنْيَانَهُ وَ جَرَى فِي ظُلْمِهِ وَ جَوْرِهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَ عَلَى أَشْيَاعِكُمْ بَرِئْتُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْهُمْ وَ أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَى اللَّهِ ثُمَّ إِلَيْكُمْ بِمُوَالاَتِكُمْ وَ مُوَالاَةِ وَلِيِّكُمْ وَ بِالْبَرَاءَةِ مِنْ أَعْدَائِكُمْ وَ النَّاصِبِينَ لَكُمُ الْحَرْبَ وَ بِالْبَرَاءَةِ مِنْ أَشْيَاعِهِمْ وَ أَتْبَاعِهِمْ إِنِّي سِلْمٌ لِمَنْ سَالَمَكُمْ وَ حَرْبٌ لِمَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ

of whoever laid the foundation of that, built his structure upon it, and persisted in his oppression and injustice against you and against your partisans. Before God and before you, I disavow them, and I draw near to God and then to you through loyalty to you and loyalty to your friend, through disavowal of your enemies and of those who wage war against you, and through disavowal of their partisans and their followers. I am at peace with whoever is at peace with you and at war with whoever is at war with you,

وَ وَلِيٌّ لِمَنْ وَالاَكُمْ وَ عَدُوٌّ لِمَنْ عَادَاكُمْ فَأَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ الَّذِي أَكْرَمَنِي بِمَعْرِفَتِكُمْ وَ مَعْرِفَةِ أَوْلِيَائِكُمْ وَ رَزَقَنِي الْبَرَاءَةَ مِنْ أَعْدَائِكُمْ أَنْ يَجْعَلَنِي مَعَكُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ وَ أَنْ يُثَبِّتَ لِي عِنْدَكُمْ قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَ الْآخِرَةِ وَ أَسْأَلُهُ أَنْ يُبَلِّغَنِي الْمَقَامَ الْمَحْمُودَ لَكُمْ عِنْدَ اللَّهِ وَ أَنْ يَرْزُقَنِي طَلَبَ ثَارِي (ثَارَكُمْ) مَعَ إِمَامٍ هُدًى (مَهْدِيٍّ) ظَاهِرٍ نَاطِقٍ بِالْحَقِّ مِنْكُمْ وَ أَسْأَلُ اللَّهَ بِحَقِّكُمْ

a friend to whoever befriends you and an enemy to whoever is hostile to you. So I ask God, who honoured me with knowledge of you and knowledge of your friends and granted me disavowal of your enemies, to place me with you in this world and the Hereafter, and to make firm for me a foothold of truth with you in this world and the Hereafter. And I ask Him to bring me to the praised station that is yours with God, and to grant me the seeking of vengeance for my blood alongside an Imam of guidance from among you, manifest, speaking the truth. And I ask God by your right

بِالشَّأْنِ الَّذِي لَكُمْ عِنْدَهُ أَنْ يُعْطِيَنِي بِمُصَابِي بِكُمْ أَفْضَلَ مَا يُعْطِي مُصَاباً بِمُصِيبَتِهِ مُصِيبَةً مَا أَعْظَمَهَا وَ أَعْظَمَ رَزِيَّتَهَا فِي الْإِسْلاَمِ وَ فِي جَمِيعِ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَ الْأَرْضِ (الْأَرَضِينَ) اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْنِي فِي مَقَامِي هَذَا مِمَّنْ تَنَالُهُ مِنْكَ صَلَوَاتٌ وَ رَحْمَةٌ وَ مَغْفِرَةٌ اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ مَحْيَايَ مَحْيَا مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ مَمَاتِي مَمَاتَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

by the standing you have with Him, to give me, for my grief over you, the best that He gives to anyone stricken by his affliction: an affliction, how great it is, and how great its calamity in Islam and in all the heavens and the earth. O God, make me in this station of mine one of those whom blessings, mercy and forgiveness from You reach. O God, make my life the life of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and my death the death of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا يَوْمٌ تَبَرَّكَتْ بِهِ (فِيهِ) بَنُو أُمَيَّةَ وَ ابْنُ آكِلَةِ الْأَكْبَادِ اللَّعِينُ ابْنُ اللَّعِينِ عَلَى (لِسَانِكَ) وَ لِسَانِ نَبِيِّكَ (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ) فِي كُلِّ مَوْطِنٍ وَ مَوْقِفٍ وَقَفَ فِيهِ نَبِيُّكَ (صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ) اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ أَبَا سُفْيَانَ وَ مُعَاوِيَةَ وَ يَزِيدَ بْنَ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ مِنْكَ اللَّعْنَةُ أَبَدَ الْآبِدِينَ وَ هَذَا يَوْمٌ فَرِحَتْ بِهِ آلُ زِيَادٍ وَ آلُ مَرْوَانَ بِقَتْلِهِمُ الْحُسَيْنَ صَلَوَاتُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ (عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ) .

O God, this is a day which the Umayyads held as blessed, and so did the son of the eater of livers, the cursed, son of the cursed, by Your tongue and by the tongue of Your Prophet, in every place and every station where Your Prophet stood. O God, curse Abu Sufyan and Mu'awiya and Yazid ibn Mu'awiya; upon them be the curse from You for ever and ever. And this is a day on which Al Ziyad and Al Marwan rejoiced at their killing of al-Husayn, God's blessings be upon him.

اللَّهُمَّ فَضَاعِفْ عَلَيْهِمُ اللَّعْنَ مِنْكَ وَ الْعَذَابَ (الْأَلِيمَ) اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَتَقَرَّبُ إِلَيْكَ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ وَ فِي مَوْقِفِي هَذَا وَ أَيَّامِ حَيَاتِي بِالْبَرَاءَةِ مِنْهُمْ وَ اللَّعْنَةِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَ بِالْمُوَالاَةِ لِنَبِيِّكَ وَ آلِ نَبِيِّكَ (عَلَيْهِ وَ) عَلَيْهِمُ السَّلاَمُ

O God, so multiply upon them the curse from You and the punishment. O God, I draw near to You on this day, in this station of mine and in the days of my life, by disavowing them and cursing them, and by devotion to Your Prophet and the family of Your Prophet, peace be upon them.

اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ أَوَّلَ ظَالِمٍ ظَلَمَ حَقَّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آخِرَ تَابِعٍ لَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنِ الْعِصَابَةَ الَّتِي (الَّذِينَ) جَاهَدَتِ الْحُسَيْنَ وَ شَايَعَتْ وَ بَايَعَتْ وَ تَابَعَتْ (تَايَعَتْ) عَلَى قَتْلِهِ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْهُمْ جَمِيعاً

O God, curse the first oppressor who wronged the right of Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and the last follower of him in that. O God, curse the band that fought al-Husayn, and took sides, pledged allegiance and banded together to kill him. O God, curse them all.

السَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ وَ عَلَى الْأَرْوَاحِ الَّتِي حَلَّتْ بِفِنَائِكَ عَلَيْكَ مِنِّي سَلاَمُ اللَّهِ أَبَداً مَا بَقِيتُ وَ بَقِيَ اللَّيْلُ وَ النَّهَارُ وَ لاَ جَعَلَهُ اللَّهُ آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنِّي لِزِيَارَتِكُمْ (لِزِيَارَتِكَ) السَّلاَمُ عَلَى الْحُسَيْنِ وَ عَلَى عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ (وَ عَلَى أَوْلاَدِ الْحُسَيْنِ ) وَ عَلَى أَصْحَابِ الْحُسَيْنِ

Peace be upon you, O Abu Abdillah, and upon the souls that came to rest in your courtyard. Upon you from me be the peace of God for ever, as long as I remain and as long as night and day remain. May God not make this the last of my visits to you. Peace be upon al-Husayn, and upon Ali ibn al-Husayn, and upon the companions of al-Husayn.

اللَّهُمَّ خُصَّ أَنْتَ أَوَّلَ ظَالِمٍ بِاللَّعْنِ مِنِّي وَ ابْدَأْ بِهِ أَوَّلاً ثُمَّ (الْعَنِ) الثَّانِيَ وَ الثَّالِثَ وَ الرَّابِعَ اللَّهُمَّ الْعَنْ يَزِيدَ خَامِساً وَ الْعَنْ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ زِيَادٍ وَ ابْنَ مَرْجَانَةَ وَ عُمَرَ بْنَ سَعْدٍ وَ شِمْراً وَ آلَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ وَ آلَ زِيَادٍ وَ آلَ مَرْوَانَ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ

O God, single out the first oppressor Yourself for the curse from me, and begin with him first, then the second, the third and the fourth. O God, curse Yazid fifth, and curse Ubaydullah ibn Ziyad and Ibn Marjana, and Umar ibn Sa'd and Shimr, and Al Abu Sufyan, Al Ziyad and Al Marwan, until the Day of Resurrection.

اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ حَمْدَ الشَّاكِرِينَ لَكَ عَلَى مُصَابِهِمْ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ عَلَى عَظِيمِ رَزِيَّتِي اللَّهُمَّ ارْزُقْنِي شَفَاعَةَ الْحُسَيْنِ يَوْمَ الْوُرُودِ وَ ثَبِّتْ لِي قَدَمَ صِدْقٍ عِنْدَكَ مَعَ الْحُسَيْنِ وَ أَصْحَابِ الْحُسَيْنِ الَّذِينَ بَذَلُوا مُهَجَهُمْ دُونَ الْحُسَيْنِ عليه السلام

O God, to You be praise, the praise of those who thank You for their affliction. Praise be to God for my great calamity. O God, grant me the intercession of al-Husayn on the Day of Arrival, and make firm for me a foothold of truth with You, together with al-Husayn and the companions of al-Husayn who gave their lifeblood in defence of al-Husayn, peace be upon him.
