One of the Fifteen Whispered Prayers of Imam al-Sajjad (a)
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the All-Merciful, the Ever-Merciful.
سُبْحَانَكَ مَا أَضْيَقَ الطُّرُقَ عَلَى مَنْ لَمْ تَكُنْ دَلِيلَهُ وَ مَا أَوْضَحَ الْحَقَّ عِنْدَ مَنْ هَدَيْتَهُ سَبِيلَهُ إِلَهِي فَاسْلُكْ بِنَا سُبُلَ الْوُصُولِ إِلَيْكَ وَ سَيِّرْنَا فِي أَقْرَبِ الطُّرُقِ لِلْوُفُودِ عَلَيْكَ قَرِّبْ عَلَيْنَا الْبَعِيدَ وَ سَهِّلْ عَلَيْنَا الْعَسِيرَ الشَّدِيدَ وَ أَلْحِقْنَا بِعِبَادِكَ الَّذِينَ هُمْ بَالْبِدَارِ إِلَيْكَ يُسَارِعُونَ وَ بَابَكَ عَلَى الدَّوَامِ يَطْرُقُونَ وَ إِيَّاكَ فِي اللَّيْلِ وَ النَّهَارِ يَعْبُدُونَ وَ هُمْ مِنْ هَيْبَتِكَ مُشْفِقُونَ الَّذِينَ صَفَّيْتَ لَهُمُ الْمَشَارِبَ وَ بَلَّغْتَهُمُ الرَّغَائِبَ ،
Glory be to You! How narrow are the paths for one whose guide You are not, and how clear is the truth for one whom You have guided to its way! My God, lead us along the paths that reach You, and set us on the nearest roads to come before You. Bring near for us what is far, and make easy for us what is hard and severe. Join us to Your servants who hasten to You without delay, who knock at Your door without ceasing, who worship You by night and by day, and who are fearful in awe of You; those for whom You have made the drinking places pure and whom You have brought to their desires,
وَ أَنْجَحْتَ لَهُمُ الْمَطَالِبَ وَ قَضَيْتَ لَهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِكَ الْمَآرِبَ وَ مَلَأْتَ لَهُمْ ضَمَائِرَهُمْ مِنْ حُبِّكَ وَ رَوَّيْتَهُمْ مِنْ صَافِي شِرْبِكَ فَبِكَ إِلَى لَذِيذِ مُنَاجَاتِكَ وَصَلُوا وَ مِنْكَ أَقْصَى مَقَاصِدِهِمْ حَصَّلُوا فَيَا مَنْ هُوَ عَلَى الْمُقْبِلِينَ عَلَيْهِ مُقْبِلٌ وَ بِالْعَطْفِ عَلَيْهِمْ عَائِدٌ مُفْضِلٌ وَ بِالْغَافِلِينَ عَنْ ذِكْرِهِ رَحِيمٌ رَءُوفٌ وَ بِجَذْبِهِمْ إِلَى بَابِهِ وَدُودٌ عَطُوفٌ أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَنِي مِنْ أَوْفَرِهِمْ مِنْكَ حَظّاً وَ أَعْلاهُمْ عِنْدَكَ مَنْزِلاً وَ أَجْزَلِهِمْ مِنْ وُدِّكَ قِسْماً وَ أَفْضَلِهِمْ فِي مَعْرِفَتِكَ نَصِيباً فَقَدِ انْقَطَعَتْ إِلَيْكَ هِمَّتِي وَ انْصَرَفَتْ نَحْوَكَ رَغْبَتِي فَأَنْتَ لا غَيْرُكَ مُرَادِي وَ لَكَ لا لِسِوَاكَ سَهَرِي وَ سُهَادِي وَ لِقَاؤُكَ قُرَّةُ عَيْنِي وَ وَصْلُكَ مُنَى نَفْسِي،
whose requests You have granted, whose needs You have met out of Your bounty, whose hearts You have filled with Your love, and whose thirst You have quenched with Your pure drink. Through You they reached the delight of whispering to You, and from You they attained their furthest aims. O You who turn to those who turn to You, who return to them with tenderness and bounty, who are merciful and kind to those heedless of Your remembrance, and loving and affectionate in drawing them to Your door: I ask You to make me among those of them with the most abundant share from You, the highest station with You, the largest portion of Your love, and the best lot in knowing You. For my resolve has been devoted to You alone, and my longing has turned towards You. You, and none other, are my aim; for You, and none besides, are my night vigil and my sleeplessness. Meeting You is the delight of my eye, and union with You is the wish of my soul,
وَ إِلَيْكَ شَوْقِي وَ فِي مَحَبَّتِكَ وَلَهِي وَ إِلَى هَوَاكَ صَبَابَتِي وَ رِضَاكَ بُغْيَتِي وَ رُؤْيَتُكَ حَاجَتِي وَ جِوَارُكَ طَلَبِي وَ قُرْبُكَ غَايَةُ سُؤْلِي وَ فِي مُنَاجَاتِكَ رَوْحِي وَ رَاحَتِي وَ عِنْدَكَ دَوَاءُ عِلَّتِي وَ شِفَاءُ غُلَّتِي وَ بَرْدُ لَوْعَتِي وَ كَشْفُ كُرْبَتِي فَكُنْ أَنِيسِي فِي وَحْشَتِي وَ مُقِيلَ عَثْرَتِي وَ غَافِرَ زَلَّتِي وَ قَابِلَ تَوْبَتِي وَ مُجِيبَ دَعْوَتِي وَ وَلِيَّ عِصْمَتِي وَ مُغْنِيَ فَاقَتِي وَ لا تَقْطَعْنِي عَنْكَ وَ لا تُبْعِدْنِي مِنْكَ يَا نَعِيمِي وَ جَنَّتِي وَ يَا دُنْيَايَ وَ آخِرَتِي [يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ ]
to You is my yearning, in Your love is my rapture, towards Your affection is my ardour, Your good pleasure is my quest, seeing You is my need, dwelling near You is my request, and Your nearness is the utmost of my asking. In whispering to You is my repose and my rest, and with You is the cure of my ailment, the quenching of my thirst, the cooling of my burning, and the lifting of my distress. So be my companion in my loneliness, the One who overlooks my stumbling, forgives my slip, accepts my repentance, answers my call, guards me from sin, and frees me from my want. Do not cut me off from You, and do not keep me far from You, O my bliss and my Paradise, O my world and my hereafter.
