Munajat of the Seekers of Refuge

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of God, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.

اللَّهُمَّ يَا مَلاذَ اللائِذِينَ وَ يَا مَعَاذَ الْعَائِذِينَ وَ يَا مُنْجِيَ الْهَالِكِينَ وَ يَا عَاصِمَ الْبَائِسِينَ وَ يَا رَاحِمَ الْمَسَاكِينِ وَ يَا مُجِيبَ الْمُضْطَرِّينَ وَ يَا كَنْزَ الْمُفْتَقِرِينَ وَ يَا جَابِرَ الْمُنْكَسِرِينَ [الْبَائِسِ الْمُسْتَكِينِ ] وَ يَا مَأْوَى الْمُنْقَطِعِينَ وَ يَا نَاصِرَ الْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ وَ يَا مُجِيرَ الْخَائِفِينَ وَ يَا مُغِيثَ الْمَكْرُوبِينَ وَ يَا حِصْنَ اللاجِينَ إِنْ لَمْ أَعُذْ بِعِزَّتِكَ فَبِمَنْ أَعُوذُ وَ إِنْ لَمْ أَلُذْ بِقُدْرَتِكَ فَبِمَنْ أَلُوذُ وَ قَدْ أَلْجَأَتْنِي الذُّنُوبُ إِلَى التَّشَبُّثِ بِأَذْيَالِ عَفْوِكَ وَ أَحْوَجَتْنِي الْخَطَايَا إِلَى اسْتِفْتَاحِ أَبْوَابِ صَفْحِكَ،

O God, O Shelter of those who seek shelter, O Refuge of those who seek refuge, O Saviour of the perishing, O Safeguard of the wretched, O Merciful to the destitute, O Answerer of the distressed, O Treasure of the needy, O Mender of the broken, O Haven of those cut off, O Helper of the downtrodden, O Protector of the fearful, O Succour of the grief-stricken, O Fortress of those who seek protection! If I do not seek refuge in Your might, in whom shall I seek refuge? If I do not seek shelter in Your power, in whom shall I seek shelter? My sins have driven me to cling to the hems of Your pardon, and my misdeeds have left me in need of asking that the doors of Your forgiveness be opened,

وَ دَعَتْنِي الْإِسَاءَةُ إِلَى الْإِنَاخَةِ بِفِنَاءِ عِزِّكَ وَ حَمَلَتْنِي الْمَخَافَةُ مِنْ نِقْمَتِكَ عَلَى التَّمَسُّكِ بِعُرْوَةِ عَطْفِكَ وَ مَا حَقُّ مَنِ اعْتَصَمَ بِحَبْلِكَ أَنْ يُخْذَلَ وَ لا يَلِيقُ بِمَنِ اسْتَجَارَ بِعِزِّكَ أَنْ يُسْلَمَ أَوْ يُهْمَلَ إِلَهِي فَلا تُخْلِنَا مِنْ حِمَايَتِكَ وَ لا تُعْرِنَا مِنْ رِعَايَتِكَ وَ ذُدْنَا عَنْ مَوَارِدِ الْهَلَكَةِ فَإِنَّا بِعَيْنِكَ وَ فِي كَنَفِكَ وَ لَكَ أَسْأَلُكَ بِأَهْلِ خَاصَّتِكَ مِنْ مَلائِكَتِكَ وَ الصَّالِحِينَ مِنْ بَرِيَّتِكَ أَنْ تَجْعَلَ عَلَيْنَا وَاقِيَةً تُنْجِينَا مِنَ الْهَلَكَاتِ وَ تُجَنِّبُنَا مِنَ الْآفَاتِ وَ تُكِنُّنَا مِنْ دَوَاهِي الْمُصِيبَاتِ وَ أَنْ تُنْزِلَ عَلَيْنَا مِنْ سَكِينَتِكَ وَ أَنْ تُغَشِّيَ وُجُوهَنَا بِأَنْوَارِ مَحَبَّتِكَ وَ أَنْ تُؤْوِيَنَا إِلَى شَدِيدِ رُكْنِكَ وَ أَنْ تَحْوِيَنَا فِي أَكْنَافِ عِصْمَتِكَ بِرَأْفَتِكَ وَ رَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ

my wrongdoing has called me to alight at the courtyard of Your might, and fear of Your vengeance has led me to hold fast to the handhold of Your tenderness. It is not right that one who holds fast to Your rope should be forsaken, nor is it fitting that one who seeks protection in Your might should be handed over or neglected. My God, do not leave us without Your protection, do not strip us of Your care, and keep us away from the watering places of ruin, for we are in Your sight, in Your shelter, and Yours. I ask You, by those closest to You among Your angels and the righteous among Your creatures, to place over us a shield that saves us from destruction, keeps us away from calamities and shelters us from the disasters of misfortune; to send down Your tranquillity upon us; to cover our faces with the lights of Your love; to give us refuge in Your strong support; and to enfold us within the bounds of Your protection, by Your kindness and Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
