One of the Fifteen Whispered Prayers of Imam al-Sajjad (a)
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the Name of God, the All-Beneficent, the All-Merciful.
اللَّهُمَّ أَلْهِمْنَا طَاعَتَكَ وَ جَنِّبْنَا مَعْصِيَتَكَ وَ يَسِّرْ لَنَا بُلُوغَ مَا نَتَمَنَّى مِنِ ابْتِغَاءِ رِضْوَانِكَ وَ أَحْلِلْنَا بُحْبُوحَةَ جِنَانِكَ وَ اقْشَعْ عَنْ بَصَائِرِنَا سَحَابَ الارْتِيَابِ وَ اكْشِفْ عَنْ قُلُوبِنَا أَغْشِيَةَ الْمِرْيَةِ وَ الْحِجَابِ وَ أَزْهِقِ الْبَاطِلَ عَنْ ضَمَائِرِنَا وَ أَثْبِتِ الْحَقَّ فِي سَرَائِرِنَا فَإِنَّ الشُّكُوكَ وَ الظُّنُونَ لَوَاقِحُ الْفِتَنِ وَ مُكَدِّرَةٌ لِصَفْوِ الْمَنَائِحِ وَ الْمِنَنِ اللَّهُمَّ احْمِلْنَا فِي سُفُنِ نَجَاتِكَ وَ مَتِّعْنَا بِلَذِيذِ مُنَاجَاتِكَ وَ أَوْرِدْنَا حِيَاضَ حُبِّكَ ،
O God, inspire us with obedience to You and keep us away from disobeying You. Make it easy for us to reach what we long for in seeking Your good pleasure, and settle us in the midst of Your gardens. Scatter the clouds of doubt from our inner sight, lift the coverings of misgiving and the veil from our hearts, drive falsehood out of our consciences and make the truth firm in our innermost selves, for doubts and suspicions are the seeds of trials and they cloud the purity of gifts and favours. O God, carry us in the ships of Your salvation, let us enjoy the delight of whispering to You, and bring us down to the pools of Your love,
وَ أَذِقْنَا حَلاوَةَ وُدِّكَ وَ قُرْبِكَ وَ اجْعَلْ جِهَادَنَا فِيكَ وَ هَمَّنَا فِي طَاعَتِكَ وَ أَخْلِصْ نِيَّاتِنَا فِي مُعَامَلَتِكَ فَإِنَّا بِكَ وَ لَكَ وَ لا وَسِيلَةَ لَنَا إِلَيْكَ إِلّا أَنْتَ إِلَهِي اجْعَلْنِي مِنَ الْمُصْطَفَيْنَ الْأَخْيَارِ وَ أَلْحِقْنِي بِالصَّالِحِينَ الْأَبْرَارِ السَّابِقِينَ إِلَى الْمَكْرُمَاتِ الْمُسَارِعِينَ إِلَى الْخَيْرَاتِ الْعَامِلِينَ لِلْبَاقِيَاتِ الصَّالِحَاتِ السَّاعِينَ إِلَى رَفِيعِ الدَّرَجَاتِ إِنَّكَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ وَ بِالْإِجَابَةِ جَدِيرٌ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ
and let us taste the sweetness of Your affection and Your nearness. Make our striving be in You and our concern be in obeying You, and make our intentions sincere in our dealings with You, for we are through You and for You, and we have no means to You but You. My God, make me one of the chosen, the best, and join me to the righteous, the virtuous, who race ahead to noble deeds, who hasten to good works, who work for the lasting good deeds, who strive towards the lofty ranks. Surely You have power over all things and are worthy to answer, by Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful.
