Imam al-Sajjad's (a) supplication for this day
بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الْأَوَّلِ قَبْلَ الْإِنْشَاءِ وَ الْإِحْيَاءِ وَ الْآخِرِ بَعْدَ فَنَاءِ الْأَشْيَاءِ الْعَلِيمِ الَّذِي لا يَنْسَىٰ مَنْ ذَكَرَهُ وَ لا يَنْقُصُ مَنْ شَكَرَهُ وَ لا يَخِيبُ مَنْ دَعَاهُ وَ لا يَقْطَعُ رَجَاءَ مَنْ رَجَاهُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ وَ كَفَىٰ بِكَ شَهِيداً وَ أُشْهِدُ جَمِيعَ مَلائِكَتِكَ وَ سُكَّانَ سَمَاوَاتِكَ وَ حَمَلَةَ عَرْشِكَ وَ مَنْ بَعَثْتَ مِنْ أَنْبِيَائِكَ وَ رُسُلِكَ وَ أَنْشَأْتَ مِنْ أَصْنَافِ خَلْقِكَ أَنِّي أَشْهَدُ أَنَّكَ أَنْتَ اللَّهُ لا إِلَهَ إِلا أَنْتَ،
Praise be to God, the First before creation and the giving of life, and the Last after the passing away of things, the All-Knowing who does not forget whoever remembers Him, does not diminish whoever thanks Him, does not disappoint whoever calls upon Him, and does not cut off the hope of whoever hopes in Him. O God, I call You to witness, and You suffice as a witness, and I call to witness all Your angels, the dwellers of Your heavens, the bearers of Your Throne, those of Your prophets and messengers whom You have sent, and those of the kinds of Your creation whom You have brought into being, that I bear witness that You are God; there is no god but You,
وَحْدَكَ لا شَرِيكَ لَكَ وَ لا عَدِيلَ وَ لا خُلْفَ لِقَوْلِكَ وَ لا تَبْدِيلَ وَ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدا صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ عَبْدُكَ وَ رَسُولُكَ أَدَّىٰ مَا حَمَّلْتَهُ إِلَى الْعِبَادِ وَ جَاهَدَ فِي اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ حَقَّ الْجِهَادِ وَ أَنَّهُ بَشَّرَ بِمَا هُوَ حَقٌّ مِنَ الثَّوَابِ وَ أَنْذَرَ بِمَا هُوَ صِدْقٌ مِنَ الْعِقَابِ اللَّهُمَّ ثَبِّتْنِي عَلَىٰ دِينِكَ مَا أَحْيَيْتَنِي ،
alone, with no partner and no equal, and there is no breaking of Your word and no changing of it; and that Muhammad, God bless him and his family, is Your servant and Your messenger, who delivered to the servants what You charged him with, who strove for God, Mighty and Majestic, with the striving that is His due, and that he gave glad tidings of the reward that is true, and gave warning of the punishment that is sure. O God, keep me firm upon Your religion for as long as You keep me alive,
وَ لا تُزِغْ قَلْبِي بَعْدَ إِذْ هَدَيْتَنِي وَ هَبْ لِي مِنْ لَدُنْكَ رَحْمَةً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْوَهَّابُ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ عَلَىٰ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اجْعَلْنِي مِنْ أَتْبَاعِهِ وَ شِيعَتِهِ وَ احْشُرْنِي فِي زُمْرَتِهِ وَ وَفِّقْنِي لِأَدَاءِ فَرْضِ الْجُمُعَاتِ وَ مَا أَوْجَبْتَ عَلَيَّ فِيهَا مِنَ الطَّاعَاتِ وَ قَسَمْتَ لِأَهْلِهَا مِنَ الْعَطَاءِ فِي يَوْمِ الْجَزَاءِ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْعَزِيزُ الْحَكِيمُ
and do not let my heart swerve after You have guided me, and grant me mercy from Yourself, for You are the Ever-Bestowing. Bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, make me one of his followers and his partisans, gather me in his company, and grant me success in performing the obligation of the Fridays and the acts of obedience You have made binding upon me in them, and in the gifts You have apportioned for their people on the Day of Recompense; for You are the Almighty, the All-Wise.
