Du'a of Sunday

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الَّذِي لا أَرْجُو إِلا فَضْلَهُ وَ لا أَخْشَى إِلّا عَدْلَهُ وَ لا أَعْتَمِدُ إِلّا قَوْلَهُ وَ لا أُمْسِكُ إِلّا بِحَبْلِهِ بِكَ أَسْتَجِيرُ يَا ذَا الْعَفْوِ وَ الرِّضْوَانِ مِنَ الظُّلْمِ وَ الْعُدْوَانِ وَ مِنْ غِيَرِ الزَّمَانِ وَ تَوَاتُرِ الْأَحْزَانِ وَ طَوَارِقِ الْحَدَثَانِ وَ مِنِ انْقِضَاءِ الْمُدَّةِ قَبْلَ التَّأَهُّبِ وَ الْعُدَّةِ وَ إِيَّاكَ أَسْتَرْشِدُ لِمَا فِيهِ الصَّلاحُ وَ الْإِصْلاحُ وَ بِكَ أَسْتَعِينُ فِيمَا يَقْتَرِنُ بِهِ النَّجَاحُ وَ الْإِنْجَاحُ وَ إِيَّاكَ أَرْغَبُ فِي لِبَاسِ الْعَافِيَةِ وَ تَمَامِهَا وَ شُمُولِ السَّلامَةِ وَ دَوَامِهَا وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ يَا رَبِّ مِنْ هَمَزَاتِ الشَّيَاطِينِ وَ أَحْتَرِزُ بِسُلْطَانِكَ مِنْ جَوْرِ السَّلاطِينِ،

In the name of God, from whom I hope for nothing but His favour, fear nothing but His justice, rely on nothing but His word, and hold fast to nothing but His rope. In You I seek refuge, O Possessor of pardon and good pleasure, from wrongdoing and aggression, from the changes of time and the succession of sorrows, from the misfortunes of fate that strike by night, and from the ending of my term before I have made ready and prepared. From You I seek guidance to what holds soundness and setting-right, and from You I seek help in that which is accompanied by success and the granting of success. To You I turn in longing for the garment of well-being and its completion, and for the fullness of safety and its permanence. I seek refuge in You, O Lord, from the goadings of the devils, and I take shelter in Your authority from the tyranny of rulers.

فَتَقَبَّلْ مَا كَانَ مِنْ صَلاتِي وَ صَوْمِي وَ اجْعَلْ غَدِي وَ مَا بَعْدَهُ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ سَاعَتِي وَ يَوْمِي وَ أَعِزَّنِي فِي عَشِيرَتِي وَ قَوْمِي وَ احْفَظْنِي فِي يَقَظَتِي وَ نَوْمِي فَأَنْتَ اللَّهُ خَيْرٌ حَافِظا وَ أَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَبْرَأُ إِلَيْكَ فِي يَوْمِي هَذَا وَ مَا بَعْدَهُ مِنَ الْآحَادِ مِنَ الشِّرْكِ وَ الْإِلْحَادِ وَ أُخْلِصُ لَكَ دُعَائِي تَعَرُّضاً لِلْإِجَابَةِ وَ أُقِيمُ عَلَى طَاعَتِكَ رَجَاءً لِلْإِثَابَةِ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَيْرِ خَلْقِكَ الدَّاعِي إِلَى حَقِّكَ وَ أَعِزَّنِي بِعِزِّكَ الَّذِي لا يُضَامُ وَ احْفَظْنِي بِعَيْنِكَ الَّتِي لا تَنَامُ وَ اخْتِمْ بِالانْقِطَاعِ إِلَيْكَ أَمْرِي وَ بِالْمَغْفِرَةِ عُمْرِي إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ الْغَفُورُ الرَّحِيمُ.

So accept what there has been of my prayer and my fasting, make my tomorrow and what follows it better than this hour of mine and this day of mine, grant me honour among my kin and my people, and guard me in my waking and my sleep, for You are God, the best of guardians, and You are the Most Merciful of the merciful. O God, I declare myself free before You, on this day of mine and on every Sunday that follows it, from polytheism and from heresy. I make my supplication sincere to You, seeking to be answered, and I stand firm in obedience to You, hoping for reward. So bless Muhammad, the best of Your creation, the one who calls to Your truth; grant me honour by Your might that cannot be humbled; guard me with Your eye that does not sleep; and seal my affair with devotion to You alone and my life with forgiveness. Surely You are the Forgiving, the Merciful.
