Du'a of Thursday

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَذْهَبَ اللَّيْلَ مُظْلِما بِقُدْرَتِهِ وَ جَاءَ بِالنَّهَارِ مُبْصِراً بِرَحْمَتِهِ وَ كَسَانِي ضِيَاءَهُ وَ أَنَا فِي نِعْمَتِهِ اللَّهُمَّ فَكَمَا أَبْقَيْتَنِي لَهُ فَأَبْقِنِي لِأَمْثَالِهِ وَ صَلِّ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِهِ وَ لا تَفْجَعْنِي فِيهِ وَ فِي غَيْرِهِ مِنَ اللَّيَالِي وَ الْأَيَّامِ بِارْتِكَابِ الْمَحَارِمِ وَ اكْتِسَابِ الْمَآثِمِ وَ ارْزُقْنِي خَيْرَهُ وَ خَيْرَ مَا فِيهِ وَ خَيْرَ مَا بَعْدَهُ وَ اصْرِفْ عَنِّي شَرَّهُ وَ شَرَّ مَا فِيهِ وَ شَرَّ مَا بَعْدَهُ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي بِذِمَّةِ الْإِسْلامِ أَتَوَسَّلُ إِلَيْكَ وَ بِحُرْمَةِ الْقُرْآنِ أَعْتَمِدُ عَلَيْكَ وَ بِمُحَمَّدٍ الْمُصْطَفَى صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ أَسْتَشْفِعُ لَدَيْكَ ،

Praise be to God, who by His power took away the night in its darkness and by His mercy brought the day with its light, who clothed me in its brightness while I am in His favour. O God, just as You have kept me alive for this day, keep me alive for others like it, and bless the Prophet Muhammad and his family, and do not strike me with grief on this day or on any other of the nights and days through committing forbidden things or earning sins. Grant me its good, the good of what is in it and the good of what comes after it, and turn away from me its evil, the evil of what is in it and the evil of what comes after it. O God, by the covenant of Islam I plead with You, by the sanctity of the Quran I rely on You, and through Muhammad the Chosen One, God bless him and his family, I seek intercession with You,

فَاعْرِفِ اللَّهُمَّ ذِمَّتِيَ الَّتِي رَجَوْتُ بِهَا قَضَاءَ حَاجَتِي يَا أَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِينَ اللَّهُمَّ اقْضِ لِي فِي الْخَمِيسِ خَمْساً لا يَتَّسِعُ لَهَا إِلا كَرَمُكَ وَ لا يُطِيقُهَا إِلّا نِعَمُكَ سَلامَةً أَقْوَى بِهَا عَلَى طَاعَتِكَ وَ عِبَادَةً أَسْتَحِقُّ بِهَا جَزِيلَ مَثُوبَتِكَ وَ سَعَةً فِي الْحَالِ مِنَ الرِّزْقِ الْحَلالِ وَ أَنْ تُؤْمِنَنِي فِي مَوَاقِفِ الْخَوْفِ بِأَمْنِكَ وَ تَجْعَلَنِي مِنْ طَوَارِقِ الْهُمُومِ وَ الْغُمُومِ فِي حِصْنِكَ وَ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَ آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَ اجْعَلْ تَوَسُّلِي بِهِ شَافِعاً يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ نَافِعاً إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ

So recognise, O God, my covenant, through which I have hoped for the fulfilment of my need, O Most Merciful of the merciful. O God, grant me on Thursday five things that nothing can encompass but Your generosity and nothing can bear but Your favours: well-being by which I grow strong in obeying You, worship by which I deserve Your abundant reward, ample lawful provision in my present state, that You grant me security by Your safety in the places of fear, and that You place me in Your fortress against the sudden onset of worries and sorrows. Bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and make my pleading through him a beneficial intercessor on the Day of Resurrection. Truly You are the Most Merciful of the merciful.
