Du'a of Monday

Imam al-Sajjad's (a) supplication for this day

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

Praise be to God, who called no one to witness when He created the heavens and the earth, and took no helper when He brought forth living souls. He was given no partner in His divinity, nor any supporter in His oneness. Tongues fall short of the furthest reach of His description, and minds of the essence of knowing Him. The tyrants humble themselves before His majesty, faces bow down in fear of Him, and every great one submits to His greatness. So to You be praise, continuous and ordered, unbroken and complete, and His blessings be upon His Messenger forever, and His peace, lasting and eternal. O God, make the beginning of this day of mine righteousness, its middle prosperity, and its end success,

and I seek refuge in You from a day whose beginning is fright, whose middle is anguish, and whose end is pain. O God, I ask Your forgiveness for every vow I vowed, every promise I promised, and every pledge I pledged and then did not fulfil. And I ask You concerning the wrongs done to Your servants that lie upon me: for whichever servant of Your servants or handmaid of Your handmaids holds against me a wrong that I did them, in their person, or in their honour, or in their wealth, or in their family and children, or a backbiting with which I spoke of them behind their back, or unfair treatment I dealt them out of partiality, or desire, or pride, or zeal, or showing off, or factionalism, whether they were absent or present, living or dead, and my hand has fallen short and my means have grown too narrow to return it to them and to be released from it by them,

so I ask You, O He who holds needs in His possession, while they answer to His will and hasten to His wish, that You bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, and that You make that person pleased with me by whatever means You will, and grant me from Yourself a mercy, for forgiveness does not diminish You, and giving does not harm You, O Most Merciful of the merciful. O God, grant me on every Monday two blessings from You, two in number: happiness at its beginning through obedience to You, and a blessing at its end through Your forgiveness, O He who is God, and none forgives sins but He.

O God, bless Muhammad and his family
