Du'a of Wednesday

بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ

In the name of God, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.

الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَعَلَ اللَّيْلَ لِبَاساً وَ النَّوْمَ سُبَاتاً وَ جَعَلَ النَّهَارَ نُشُوراً لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْ بَعَثْتَنِي مِنْ مَرْقَدِي وَ لَوْ شِئْتَ جَعَلْتَهُ سَرْمَداً حَمْداً دَائِماً لا يَنْقَطِعُ أَبَدا وَ لا يُحْصِي لَهُ الْخَلائِقُ عَدَدا اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ أَنْ خَلَقْتَ فَسَوَّيْتَ وَ قَدَّرْتَ وَ قَضَيْتَ وَ أَمَتَّ وَ أَحْيَيْتَ وَ أَمْرَضْتَ وَ شَفَيْتَ وَ عَافَيْتَ وَ أَبْلَيْتَ وَ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ اسْتَوَيْتَ وَ عَلَى الْمُلْكِ احْتَوَيْتَ أَدْعُوكَ دُعَاءَ مَنْ ضَعُفَتْ وَسِيلَتُهُ وَ انْقَطَعَتْ حِيلَتُهُ وَ اقْتَرَبَ أَجَلُهُ ،

Praise be to God, who made the night a covering and sleep a rest, and made the day a rising. To You is praise, that You raised me from my resting-place, and had You willed, You would have made it everlasting: a perpetual praise that is never cut off, whose number the creatures could never count. O God, to You is praise, that You created, then fashioned, You measured out and decreed, You gave death and gave life, You made ill and You healed, You granted health and You put to the test, You settled Yourself upon the Throne and encompassed the dominion. I call upon You with the call of one whose means have grown weak, whose devices have been cut off, whose appointed term has drawn near,

وَ تَدَانَى فِي الدُّنْيَا أَمَلُهُ وَ اشْتَدَّتْ إِلَى رَحْمَتِكَ فَاقَتُهُ وَ عَظُمَتْ لِتَفْرِيطِهِ حَسْرَتُهُ وَ كَثُرَتْ زَلَّتُهُ وَ عَثْرَتُهُ وَ خَلُصَتْ لِوَجْهِكَ تَوْبَتُهُ فَصَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ النَّبِيِّينَ وَ عَلَى أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ الطَّيِّبِينَ الطَّاهِرِينَ وَ ارْزُقْنِي شَفَاعَةَ مُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَ آلِهِ وَ لا تَحْرِمْنِي صُحْبَتَهُ إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ أَرْحَمُ الرَّاحِمِينَ اللَّهُمَّ اقْضِ لِي فِي الْأَرْبَعَاءِ أَرْبَعا اجْعَلْ قُوَّتِي فِي طَاعَتِكَ وَ نَشَاطِي فِي عِبَادَتِكَ وَ رَغْبَتِي فِي ثَوَابِكَ وَ زُهْدِي فِيمَا يُوجِبُ لِي أَلِيمَ عِقَابِكَ إِنَّكَ لَطِيفٌ لِمَا تَشَاءُ

whose hope in this world has grown short, whose need of Your mercy has grown intense, whose regret for his neglect has grown great, whose slips and stumbles have grown many, and whose repentance has become sincere for Your face. So bless Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets, and his household, the good and the pure, and grant me the intercession of Muhammad, God bless him and his family, and do not deprive me of his company. Truly You are the Most Merciful of the merciful. O God, grant me on Wednesday four things: make my strength lie in obeying You, my vigour in worshipping You, my desire in Your reward, and my abstinence in whatever would bring upon me Your painful punishment. Truly You are Subtle in whatever You will.
